GP ADHD Management

ADHD Assessment & Management
At Nundah Village Family Practice, we offer a structured, GP-led assessment and management pathway for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults.
 


What to Expect:
ADHD is a complex condition that requires careful assessment over multiple appointments.

Our process includes:

  • A detailed review of your medical, mental health, and developmental history

  • Completion of standardised ADHD screening questionnaires

  • Review of childhood history (including school reports where possible)

  • Assessment of how symptoms impact your daily life

  • Screening for other conditions that may overlap with or mimic ADHD

  • Physical health checks and relevant baseline investigations

This allows your GP to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and develop an appropriate management plan.



 Assessment Process

The assessment is completed over several appointments:

  1. Initial Screening Appointment: A short consultation to review your history, determine if an ADHD assessment is appropriate, and provide you with the required questionnaires.

  2. Comprehensive Assessment: A longer consultation where your GP reviews all completed forms, explores your history in detail, and assesses functional impact.

  3. Diagnosis & Management Planning: Your GP will discuss the outcome of your assessment and outline a personalised management plan.

  4. Ongoing Review: Follow-up appointments are used to monitor progress and adjust management as needed.

 

Before Your Assessment


You will be asked to:

  • Complete several questionnaires

  • Arrange for someone who knew you as a child to complete observer forms

  • Source and provide school reports (preferably from primary school, if available)

  • This information is essential for an accurate assessment.

Important Information

  • A diagnosis of ADHD is not guaranteed

  • Medication may not be appropriate for all patients

  • Some patients may require referral to a specialist if the presentation is complex

  • Deposits are required prior to booking appointments.
